Gender • Status • Inequalities

About Me

I am a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University's VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab and the Stanford Impact Lab. My research investigates how cultural beliefs about gender shape individual behaviors as well as perceptions of status and legitimacy. Across past and current projects, I examine how highly accomplished scientists are portrayed in public media, who speaks up and dominates participation in college classrooms, and how individuals come to claim and perform expertise. Together, my work shows how everyday interactions and cultural narratives reproduce gendered patterns of authority and recognition.
